The Islamic State (ISIS/ISIL/IS/Daesh) launched a new attack against the Syrian Arab Army (SAA) in the eastern countryside of the Deir Ezzor Governorate this morning.
According to reports, the Islamic State took advantage of the destroyed Syrian Army artillery gun in Al-Sukkariyeh to attack the latter from their positions near Baghouz Tahtani.
The reports from Deir Ezzor said that the Islamic State fighters that launched the attack had previously fled their pocket in the eastern region of the Euphrates River Valley that same day.
The Syrian Arab Army ultimately repelled the abrupt Islamic State attack, despite the absence of their field artillery gun.
Prior to the Islamic State attack, the U.S. Coalition launched an airstrike on a Syrian Arab Army artillery gun that was positioned inside the town of Al-Sukkariyeh.
At least two soldiers were badly wounded as a result of the U.S. Coalition attack, which the Syrian Arab Army said was unprovoked.
